Originally trained as a cartographer and geologist, I still find myself drawn to themes of technical drawing, architecture, maps, plans and geometric patterns.
I often use scavenged and reclaimed fabrics, re-coloured and overdyed to create collaged backgrounds onto which I add sketchy details with my sewing machine. Nothing is digitised or programmed - it really is hand stitched using a domestic sewing machine. Other pieces are completely smothered in stitch - none of the background fabric visible at all.
Surfaces can be undulating and distorted. Currently obsessed with pie charts and colour extractions. I exhibit in the area with a textile art group - Visualise - and sell work through my website.
