Originally trained as a cartographer and geologist, I still find myself drawn to themes of technical drawing, architecture, maps, plans and geometric patterns. I often use scavenged and reclaimed fabrics, re-coloured and overdyed to create collaged backgrounds onto which I add sketchy details with my sewing machine. Nothing is digitised or programmed - it really is hand stitched using a domestic sewing machine. Other pieces are completely smothered in stitch - none of the background fabric visible at all. Surfaces can be undulating and distorted. Currently obsessed with pie charts and colour extractions. I exhibit in the area with a textile art group - Visualise - and sell work through my website.

Wilbarston between Corby & Market Harborough, just off the A427. At the cross-roads in the centre of the village, take the road which has the village shop on it - this is Main Street. You will find Maidcroft House along the road on your left, just past the enormous overhanging yew tree. My studio is in the back garden.
