Katy works from her art barn in Northamptonshire. Her semi abstract paintings are often mixed media where she combines collage, acrylic paint, acrylic inks and printed elements. Her aim is that the image created can appeal both on close inspection and also catch the eye from a distance.
Design, composition and texture are very important to Katy and she often uses a vibrant but limited colour palette to interpret her ideas. Her mixed media pieces are sometimes specially sealed and are framed without glass so the surface texture can be gently touched.
Katy feels touching a painting in addition to looking at it, gives a pleasing extra dimension to appreciating art.
Katy has won awards for her art and exhibits her work at the Eagle Gallery in Bedford. She also exhibits in shows and exhibitions in Northamptonshire and Hertfordshire. Katy’s painting ‘Flora and Lemons’, was chosen for the poster for the Yardley Arts Centre exhibition in July 2022 called ‘Gardens and Beyond’.
