Bio

I studied fine art painting and printmaking at Bretton Hall College, University of Leeds and have an MA In fine art from Birmingham City University. I make mosaics from broken crockery, a technique known as Pique Assiette which means 'thief of plates' in French, it is also known as Memoryware. I have always been interested in collecting vintage objects that I incorporate in to my work. Objects with a history, a past life that I have recycled. My mosaics are made from china and crockery from various eras that has been chipped, broken and discarded. I have hand cut and reconstructed the fragments. I find the patterns on old china very beautiful and evocative. Flora and fauna to retro patterns from the 1960's and 70's are a constant source of inspiration. I make a variety of wall plaques, hearts, stars and birds. I also make mosaic mirror frames, letters, plant pots and jewellery. My mosaics are suitable for indoor display only.
