Fiona Kingdon studied Furniture Restoration and Craftsmanship, then worked supporting children with behavioural difficulties. 10 years ago, with a need to return to working wood creatively, she turned to using a scrollsaw to express her art.
In a world full of the mediocre and mass production masquerading as art and craft, Fiona is determined to try to skilfully make something that’s beautiful and one of a kind.
So, she creates art pieces suggested by the the grain of the wood itself, the landscapes she loves or simply weaves the beauty of timber into her designs. Working with solid, native or rescued timbers, Fiona fashions intricate images that emerge over many hours of cutting by hand with a scrollsaw.
