This is me sitting in the shade in the garden preparing some of my husbands thrown porcelain stoneware pots ready for first firing. You can see him reflected in the window!
I am a ceramic practitioner designer & maker based outside Barby, a village thet sits on the outskirts of the Warwickshire & Northamptonshire border.
I try to show commitment to my work by not replicating any piece so the owner can be confident they have bought a individual work which is unique.
By using the initial techniques of slabbing and coiling in clay the following impressed marks on my work are created from found forms and objects from the the seascape and landscape. Greenware is sometimes burnished. All work is internally stoneare glazed and I sometimes add sea glass.
Clay is a limitless wonderful medium which gives me a visual voice thus enabling me to have a creative canvass for my personal expressions and feelings.
I try to visualize moments of emotions and communicate this expression non-verbally in clay.
